A new video game called Moonfrost is set to launch in early access on the Steam platform on October 12. Created by Oxalis Games, Moonfrost blends several gameplay styles, including farming, building, decorating, and exploring, and is inspired by popular titles like Stardew Valley and The Sims. The game promises a "cozy" experience, with mechanics centered around agriculture, fishing, cooking, raising animals, crafting objects, and decorating spaces. In Moonfrost, players will take on the role of a "Frost Hunter," a character who can use fragments from icy meteorites that have been falling to Earth since the appearance of a second moon. This unique cosmic event will be a key part of the game's storyline, though the main focus will be on the gameplay itself. Players will engage in both relaxing and adventurous activities, such as exploring ancient temples and battling to uncover new recipes and decorative items. The game will feature a detailed construction system that allows players to build their homes from the ground up, with control over walls, floors, ceilings, and decorations. This system will enable players to create a wide variety of structures, from simple cottages to grand castles. Social interaction is also a major component, with villagers who have their own stories, opportunities to form friendships, and the chance to develop romantic relationships with a group of available characters. Visually, Moonfrost is described as "next gen pixel art," combining 3D characters with a pixelated style for the environment and a new camera system. This artistic approach has been highlighted as particularly striking and visually appealing. The early access version will include about half of the game's story and limited relationship features, which will be expanded in the coming months. The full version 1.0 is expected to be released in 2027, though the price for the early access version has not yet been announced, with expectations that it will be lower than the final release.
