Documentary highlights football violence issue

Laure Boulleau, a former football player and Canal+ consultant, is set to air a documentary titled « Et si on se calmait ? » on Sunday evening, focusing on the issue of violence in football. The project was announced during Canal+'s return conference last month.

Personal experience shapes perspective

Boulleau explained that the birth of her daughter, two and a half years ago, changed her perspective significantly, giving her a renewed sense of responsibility. She has analyzed football on television for nearly ten years and has observed an increase in violent behavior, which has become increasingly tiresome for her.

Concerns about youth football environment

Boulleau expressed concern about the future of football, particularly the impact of adult behavior around youth matches. She criticized the use of harsh language by adults towards young players and referees, noting that this behavior starts at the amateur level and is mirrored by professionals.

Criticism of professional role models

She specifically mentioned Lyon coach Paulo Fonseca as an example of someone setting a bad example. She also highlighted the role of parents and supporters in contributing to a climate of violence, warning against people becoming accustomed to such behavior.

Call for change to preserve football's future

Boulleau fears that the number of football participants may decrease significantly due to violence, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a social mix in the sport and ensuring that people can enjoy playing without fear.
