Sarah Knafo, a member of the European Parliament for the far-right French party Reconquête, has not ruled out joining a government led by Jordan Bardella, the head of the National Rally (RN), if Marine Le Pen wins the upcoming French presidential election in April and May. Speaking on LCI on Thursday, September 3, she said, "Why not? If it is on a program that I validate, with which our convictions are aligned, yes." She emphasized the need for mutual understanding between Reconquête and the RN, even as the two parties have distinct political approaches. Marine Le Pen has already stated that if she wins the presidency, she will appoint Jordan Bardella as Prime Minister. Bardella, known for his more liberal and pro-business views within the RN, contrasts with the more traditionalist positions of other RN members. Sarah Knafo acknowledged the differences between the RN and Reconquête, a party led by Éric Zemmour, who is expected to announce his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election soon after his 2022 run. Knafo defended Reconquête's stance as representing a "fringe of French patriotism" that emphasizes strong state authority and a more innovative approach to the economy. She argued that Reconquête's economic policies are "much more credible, much more innovative and much more revolutionary than what others propose." When asked about past tensions between Reconquête and the RN, she said, "In politics, I do not hate anyone," emphasizing her focus on addressing the "problems of the French people: the debt, the waste, the insecurity, the Islamization of my country." Knafo also expressed a desire for a "union of the right," suggesting a potential alliance between different far-right groups. While she criticized some political figures as "accomplices" of the issues she sees in France, she clarified that her opposition is not rooted in personal hatred. "What I hate are the problems of the French people," she said, reaffirming her commitment to fighting against those problems rather than harboring personal animosity.
