The 45th edition of the Boulogne-Billancourt International Board Game Creators Competition took place over the last weekend of September. This event is a key gathering for designers and creators in the board game industry, where unpublished games are evaluated for potential publication. The competition begins in January, when authors submit their game prototypes, and only games that have not been previously published are eligible to participate. This year, more than 120 entries were received, but only 30 were chosen based on initial rule readings. A team of testers then narrowed the list down to ten games for the final phase. During the final phase, these ten games are presented to a jury that changes each year. The jury consists of professionals from various areas of the gaming world, including authors, publishers, media representatives, illustrators, and game librarians. Over the course of two days, they play and evaluate the games before selecting four winners. Some of the award-winning games from previous years have gone on to be published, such as Amanite, Behind, and Leaders. The competition provides a unique opportunity for emerging designers to showcase their creativity and gain recognition within the industry. It also allows publishers and other professionals to discover new talent and potentially bring fresh ideas to market. The event highlights the growing popularity of board games and the innovation that continues to shape the genre. The 2026 winners are:
