The French cycling team has announced its lineup for the upcoming UCI Road World Championships, which will take place in Montreal, Canada, from September 20 to 27. In the Elite category, Paul Seixas has been chosen as the sole leader, with a team of seven riders supporting him in his quest to win the prestigious rainbow jersey, which is awarded to the world champion. Seixas, who rides for the Decathlon - CMA CGM team, will be the only French rider competing as a team leader at the World Championships. The team will be announced officially on Friday, September 11, and the selection for the European Championships in Slovenia (October 2-7) will follow after the World Championships. However, Seixas will not participate in the European Championships, as he is expected to focus on completing his season at the Tour of Lombardy, which takes place on October 10. Before traveling to Montreal on Saturday, September 12, Thomas Voeckler, a former French cycling champion, announced his selection for the World Championships at the National Velodrome in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. Voeckler had previously given an interview in Vendée, where he discussed his plans for the upcoming event. His participation adds experience to the French team, which is looking to make a strong showing at the World Championships. The French team’s strategy is clear: with Seixas as the main contender, the focus is on supporting him in his pursuit of the rainbow jersey. The team will have a full week of preparation before the event begins in Montreal, where they will also attend the Montreal Grand Prix, a key race in the lead-up to the World Championships. With a strong supporting cast and a focused approach, the French squad is aiming for a successful campaign in Canada.
