A GoFundMe campaign set up to support the newborn daughter of Erin Piacenti, a 32-year-old Bank of America vice president who was fatally stabbed in Times Square, raised over $650,000 within a day. Piacenti was one of two people stabbed near the Bank of America office in Manhattan on Monday — the same day she returned to work after maternity leave. She had recently become a mother, welcoming her daughter, Madison, five months ago. The fundraiser, which aimed to support Madison’s future, had already received more than $650,000 in donations by Thursday afternoon. Piacenti was attacked while stopping in front of a vendor selling sunglasses as she headed home from her first day back at work. NYPD officers shot and killed her attacker, identified as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros from Queens. New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch described the attack as “random and unprovoked.” Witnesses reported seeing Cisneros with two knives before she stabbed a 68-year-old man and Piacenti. When confronted by police, Cisneros refused to drop her weapons and threatened officers. Two Tasers were used before she was shot and killed. Days before the attack, Piacenti had posted a photo on social media holding her newborn daughter, smiling and expressing gratitude for the time spent with her. She wrote, “As my maternity leave comes to an end, I could not be more grateful for every day of the last five months spent with this amazing little girl.” The fundraiser described Piacenti as a thoughtful daughter and sister, a loyal friend, a devoted partner to her husband, Frank, and an incredibly loving mother to Madison. The couple had recently celebrated their second wedding anniversary and were preparing to build a life together with their daughter. “That life changed incomprehensibly in an instant,” the fundraiser stated. Piacenti and Frank met at Fordham Law School. Before attending Fordham, she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 with a degree in political science. During her undergraduate years, she was involved in various campus activities, including the Alpha Phi sorority and the Dischord A Cappella singing group. Her life, marked by education, community involvement, and a new family, was cut short by the tragic incident in Times Square.
