The Ministry of Culture has announced the start of the 11th edition of the National Days of Architecture, which will run from October 15 to 18, 2026. This annual event highlights architectural innovation and preservation, with a focus on the theme "Rehabilitate: Building the Future." The theme explores how existing buildings can be adapted and repurposed to meet modern needs while preserving their historical value. The event aims to showcase creative solutions for transforming old structures into functional spaces for the future. In Toulouse, one of the featured projects is the transformation of a former lock-keeper's house into a restaurant. The building, located near the Matabiau station, has been carefully restored and reimagined to serve a new purpose. This project, led by the APA workshop, demonstrates how heritage can be preserved while adapting to contemporary uses. The rehabilitation process involved maintaining the original character of the building while incorporating modern design and functionality. The event will include guided visits to this and other architectural projects across the country. In Toulouse, the visit will take place on Thursday, October 15, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Museau Musette, located at 88 boulevard Pierre-Semard – 31500 Toulouse. Admission is free, but visitors are required to reserve a spot in advance. Reservations can be made through the provided link: https://www.ressourcescaue31.fr/form/visite-maison-eclusiere. The National Days of Architecture aim to raise public awareness about the importance of architectural heritage and sustainable development. By showcasing successful rehabilitation projects, the event encourages dialogue between professionals and the public about the future of urban spaces and the value of preserving history while embracing innovation.
