As autumn returns, the world of fashion is embracing a bold and vibrant color palette for the upcoming autumn-winter 2026-2027 season. According to data from TagWalk, a color forecasting company, plum has become the standout color of the season. There has been a nearly 309% increase in the number of plum-colored garments compared to last year. This rich, warm shade was prominently featured in the collections of major fashion houses like Miu Miu, Hermès, Alaïa, Zimmermann, and Vaillant during Paris Fashion Week. Plum is versatile, fitting both casual daytime outfits and elegant evening wear. Rust tones, which range in brilliance between deep chocolate and vibrant orange, are tied with plum as the second most distinguished color of the season, also seeing a 309% increase in the number of looks. Rust was featured prominently at Chanel, Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, Missoni, and Max Mara. These brands highlighted the color's versatility and its ability to stand out in the seasonal chromatic palette. Red has also made a significant impact this season, with a 23% increase in its presence across the collections. Major names like Chloe, Givenchy, Fendi, Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Celine, and Balenciaga all featured red prominently, indicating its growing importance in the current color trends. This fiery hue seems to be a chromatic obsession for many designers. Mustard yellow has regained its place in the fashion world for the second consecutive year, with a 19% increase in the number of mustard yellow silhouettes. This color was seen at Loewe, Mugler, Givenchy, Marie Adam-Leenaerdt, Chloe, and Givenchy. Mustard yellow offers a slightly seventies-inspired look and is ideal for daily wear, blending style with practicality. Bottle green continues to be a reliable choice in the seasonal palette, with a 13% increase in its presence on the runways. This deep green was featured by Balenciaga, Julie Kegels, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, and Tom Ford, transforming any piece into a statement. Meanwhile, anthracite gray, often referred to simply as gray, has also climbed to the top of the seasonal trends. Many "all gray" silhouettes were seen in the collections of Alaïa, Stella McCartney, Victoria Beckham, and Hermès. This shade has become as elegant as black and is no longer confined to formal wardrobes.
