Pollution incidents in Morbihan streams

Between August 8 and September 7, 2026, fishermen in the northern part of Morbihan reported finding disturbing conditions in two local streams. These streams were later identified as having been affected by two separate pollution incidents.

Agricultural pollution in Langonnet

One of the pollution events was traced back to agricultural activities in the village of Langonnet. This likely involved runoff from farms containing harmful chemicals or fertilizers that found their way into the water system.

Industrial pollution in Gourin

The second incident was of industrial origin and occurred in Gourin. This type of pollution may involve waste products from factories or manufacturing processes that were improperly disposed of, leading to contamination of the stream.

Investigation launched by French Office for Biodiversity

In response to these incidents, the French Office for Biodiversity has initiated an investigation to determine the full extent of the environmental damage and to identify those responsible for the pollution.

Complaints filed by affected parties

Residents and local businesses affected by the pollution have filed formal complaints. These complaints are expected to play a role in the ongoing investigation and may lead to legal action or regulatory changes.
