Adapted from the eponymous novel by American author Araminta Hall, the miniseries Imperfect Women was one of the pleasant surprises of 2026. Created by screenwriter Annie Weisman, known for The Path and Dead Like Me, the eight-episode series was a Machiavellian thriller that starred a five-star cast. It exceeded all expectations, leading Apple TV to make an unexpected decision: to turn it into a full series and officially order a second season. Season 1 of Imperfect Women centered on the murder of Nancy Hennessy, a woman whose life appeared perfect from the outside. She left behind her two best friends, Eleanor and Mary, her husband, her daughter, and a lover whose identity she took to her grave. As the investigation into her death stalled, dark secrets resurfaced, revealing how little Eleanor and Mary actually knew about their friend. The series explored themes of friendship, betrayal, and hidden truths, drawing viewers into a complex web of relationships and motives. Season 2 will not be based on a second book, as no such book exists. Instead, it will be an original creation by screenwriter Annie Weisman, focusing on the character of Eleanor. The new episodes will follow Eleanor as she returns to her roots in the affluent African-American enclave of Martha's Vineyard. There, she will uncover secrets that challenge everything she thought she knew about her past. The setting, known for its picturesque landscapes and wealthy residents, will serve as a backdrop for a story that promises to be as intricate and compelling as the first season. Actress Kerry Washington, who portrayed Eleanor in season 1, will reprise her role for season 2. In an interview with Deadline, she expressed her enthusiasm about returning to the character: "We were delighted to see how these women and their stories touched audiences around the world, and I am very excited about the idea of reprising the role of Eleanor. [...] We are looking forward to exploring a new chapter of her story and sharing it with you." However, it remains unclear which other characters from season 1 will return. Actress Elisabeth Moss, who played Mary, will not be part of the new season. Season 2 of Imperfect Women is set to be available soon on Apple TV.
