Lucas Peyresblanques injured in match

Lucas Peyresblanques was carried off the field during Stade Français' victory against Montpellier on Saturday and underwent surgery on Sunday for a left fibula fracture, which will keep him out of competition for several months.

Injury occurs during crucial moment

The match was interrupted for about ten minutes shortly after the hour following a combined clearance by Christopher Tolofua and Bastien Chalureau, after which Peyresblanques remained on the ground complaining about his left leg.

Evacuation and replacement

The medical staff of the club evacuated him on a stretcher, with Tomasi Maka taking his place on the field. Paul Gustard, the English coach, stated after the match that the injury was serious and that Peyresblanques might be absent for five to six months.

Medical confirmation and recovery

Medical tests confirmed a fibula fracture on his left leg, and an operation was performed on Sunday morning, with a minimum recovery period estimated between three and four months. The upcoming international window in November could be problematic for the team.

Other players injured

In addition to Peyresblanques, Yoan Tanga will also have to undergo tests after injuring his ribs, and Noah Nene will be with the Parisian medical staff for two weeks following a right ankle injury sustained from a "pivoting" tackle by Justo Piccardo.

Scheduling challenges ahead

The Top 14 will only have a break during two of the four weekends concerned, and Stade Français may have to innovate in order to have two complete front rows on the match sheet for the trip to Toulon and the home game against Vannes. The team is expected to face a weakened squad when it travels to South Africa next weekend.
