This new company was founded by Tomohiko Deguchi, a veteran from Vanillaware, a studio famous for its hand-drawn art style and narrative-driven games. Monochrome Studio has established a new branch that has revealed the first images of Dawngazer, an action role-playing game (RPG) set in an original universe. The game's visual design reflects the signature art style of Vanillaware, known for its detailed, hand-painted aesthetics and cinematic storytelling. Dawngazer is planned for release on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, and personal computers. Monochrome Corporation will work with Good Smile Company, a well-known Japanese publisher and toy manufacturer, to bring the game to market. Yoshimi Kudo, a composer who has worked on Unicorn Overlord and Elden Ring, is contributing to the game's soundtrack, adding to the project's appeal for fans of high-quality audio design in gaming. Dawngazer is the first game in a broader franchise called Ignisphere, which represents the world in which the game is set. While details about future games or animated projects within this universe remain unclear, Monochrome Corporation has previously worked on anime series such as Witch Hat Atelier and Medalist. Light novels for the Ignisphere franchise will be published by Kadokawa, a major Japanese publisher known for its work in the light novel and manga industries. According to Automaton, a French gaming news site, Dawngazer is expected to release sometime in 2028. However, no official announcement has been made regarding a French translation of the game at this time. The project marks a significant collaboration between several established names in the Japanese gaming and entertainment industries, with the potential to expand into multiple media formats.
