Seventy doctors from various parts of France gathered at the Estivales event, organized by the organization Médecins Solidaires. Some of the participants traveled long distances by car to attend the gathering, which took place at the Ferme de Villefavard, a former farm located 30 minutes from La Souterraine in the Creuse department. The venue, now a fully renovated cultural center, hosted the doctors and staff of the association for discussions on their professional experiences and dedication to healthcare. "There is a sense of camaraderie. We all share the same ethics and morals," said one of the participants, highlighting the shared values among those present. The third edition of the Estivales event took place in September and lasted over two days in the Creuse department. The event was described as a time for sharing knowledge, reflecting on challenges in the field, and enjoying convivial moments together. The focus was on fostering a sense of community among medical professionals who work in rural areas, where access to healthcare can be limited. Médecins Solidaires is a relatively new organization, established in 2022, with the goal of ensuring sustainable access to primary care in rural and sparsely populated regions of France. The association operates 15 health centers, where doctors take turns working on a weekly basis. This system is designed to provide consistent medical coverage in areas where healthcare professionals may be scarce. The Estivales event not only allows doctors to connect with one another but also reinforces the organization’s mission. By bringing together medical professionals who share similar challenges and goals, the event helps build a stronger network of support for rural healthcare in France. The gatherings also provide an opportunity to discuss innovative approaches to maintaining quality healthcare services in remote areas.
