Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is preparing to return with a second season, as a new teaser titled Something Real has stirred excitement among fans. The animated series, which gained widespread praise for its first season, is set to continue its story in a world defined by high-tech, low-life aesthetics. The teaser, released on October 7 by Netflix on YouTube, has been widely viewed and analyzed by fans eager for more. The trailer features a young boy using a VHS-style camera to document the chaos of Night City, a fictional metropolis known for its neon-lit streets and gritty atmosphere. This visual style, reminiscent of 1980s and 1990s video recordings, echoes the look of cult anime like Ghost in the Shell, adding to the sense of nostalgia and urgency. The trailer includes references to the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, which is the broader fictional world that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is based on. Specific details, such as Talia's cybernetic prosthetics equipped with "Vampyres" cyberware and the sound of double jump implants, highlight the connection to the larger Cyberpunk franchise. These elements are meant to ground the series in a richly detailed world filled with advanced technology and moral ambiguity. However, the tone of the teaser is somber, reflecting the emotional weight of the first season, which ended with the tragic death of the protagonist, David Martinez. Fans are approaching the new season with a mix of hope and apprehension. Many are wary of becoming too attached to the new characters, given the painful loss experienced in the first season. The melancholic mood of the teaser suggests that the new episodes may not shy away from hardship or sacrifice, a theme that has become central to the series. The second season is expected to launch on Netflix on October 20, 2026, marking the next chapter in the story of Night City and its inhabitants.
