YouPrice introduces two similar mobile plans

YouPrice, a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) using Orange's network, has introduced two mobile plans that are nearly identical in many aspects but differ in data capacity and network technology.

Plans differ in data and network generation

The first plan offers 100 GB of 4G data for 9.99 euros per month. The second plan doubles the data to 200 GB and adds 5G connectivity, priced at 11.99 euros per month. This results in a 2 euro monthly difference, or 24 euros annually, for twice the data and an additional network generation.

Cost per gigabyte comparison

The 200 GB plan costs 6 cents per GB, while the 100 GB plan costs 10 cents per GB. The 200 GB plan also includes 20 GB of usable data in the EU and the DOM, along with unlimited calls, SMS, and MMS to mainland France.

Additional features and pricing

The 200 GB plan includes an eSIM option for an extra 1 euro per month and a physical SIM card for 5 euros. It offers 200 GB in France, 20 GB in Europe, and includes unlimited calls, with 300 GB in France and 26 GB in Europe. The 100 GB plan provides 100 GB in France, 18 GB in Europe, and 100 GB in France with 18 GB in Europe.

Similarities between the plans

Both plans use the same network, offer unlimited calls, SMS, and MMS, and include the same free options like VoLTE and VoWiFi. The main differences are the increased data allowance and the addition of 5G and 4G+ in the 200 GB plan.

Target audience and usage

According to Arcep, the average user consumes 18.3 GB per month, making the 100 GB plan sufficient for most. The 200 GB plan is more suitable for users who stream a lot of videos or share their connection with a computer. 5G benefits users with modern smartphones in areas with good coverage.

Network quality and pricing

The Orange network, used by both plans, has been first in Arcep's annual survey on mobile service quality for 15 consecutive years. YouPrice offers this network at a significantly lower price than Orange itself, which is a major selling point.

International data and eSIM costs

The 200 GB plan allows up to 20 GB per month in the EU and the DOM, compared to 18 GB for the 100 GB plan. These data allowances are deducted from the overall limit and not added separately. The eSIM is available but costs an extra 1 euro per month, while the physical SIM card costs 5 euros once.

International calls and number portability

Calls to abroad, including the EU and the DOM, are not included in either plan. To keep your phone number when switching plans, you can call 3179 for free to get your RIO number and provide it when ordering the new plan. The new operator will then handle the number transfer for free.
