The National Directorate of Management and Control of the National Basketball League (DNCCG) has released budget forecasts and sports salary figures for the Betclic ELITE and ELITE 2 divisions for the 2026-2027 season. For the third straight year, the 36 professional basketball clubs in the league collectively represent an economic impact of over 200 million euros, with a projected 212 million euros for the upcoming season. However, the departure of AS Monaco Basket from the Betclic ELITE division has led to a decline in average budgets and sports salaries, with an average budget drop of 12% and an average sports salary decrease of 24%. The median budget for Betclic ELITE clubs is set at 6.6 million euros, a 3% increase from the previous season, suggesting a more uniform distribution of financial resources among clubs. When excluding teams that compete in the Euroleague, the budgets of Betclic ELITE clubs are expected to rise by 5%, with sports salaries showing a similar increase of 6%. The average budget for clubs not in the Euroleague is estimated at 6.3 million euros. In the Betclic ELITE division, Paris Basketball leads with a budget of 31 million euros, followed by LDLC ASVEL with 25 million euros and JL Bourg Basket with 8 million euros. In contrast, half of the ELITE 2 clubs are projected to see a slight decrease in their budgets. The average budget for ELITE 2 clubs in the 2026-2027 season is 3.4 million euros, down from 3.5 million euros in the 2025-2026 season, a 4% decline. Sports salaries in ELITE 2 remain relatively stable, averaging 946,000 euros, which is 1% higher than the previous season and represents 29% of the clubs' budgets, similar to the Betclic ELITE division. Orleans Loiret Basket stands out as the top club in the second division of excellence, the ELITE 2. The club's performance and financial standing highlight the competitive nature of the lower division, where clubs are working to improve their budgets and salaries to close the gap with the top-tier Betclic ELITE teams.
