Teddy Thomas focuses on club play

Teddy Thomas, a 33-year-old wing for Stade Toulousain, has said he is not currently considering a call-up to the French national team but would be available if asked. He is currently focused on his performance with Toulouse, a top French rugby club, and could be in contention for a role in the autumn internationals, which are less than a year before the 2027 World Cup.

Competition for French wing spots

With players like Antoine Dupraz and Romain Ntamack not in the current frame and others like Vincent Debaté injured, Thomas may find an opening for a spot in the national team. However, he would need to convince Fabien Galthié, the French coach, given the strong competition for the wing position.

Thomas's speed and performance

Thomas has maintained his physical fitness, recording a top speed of 36.72 km/h last season, making him one of the fastest players in the league. This speed complements Toulouse's playing style, and since joining the club, he has scored 20 tries in 31 matches, showing his effectiveness and consistency in a high-pressure team.

Improvements in defense

Once criticized for his defensive play, Thomas now emphasizes his experience and versatility. His ability to make an impact as an X-factor remains strong, and he continues to be a valuable player for his club.

Family and future goals

When asked by L'Équipe about his national team prospects, Thomas said he does not think about it, but the door remains open: "If I am recalled, I will be there." The possibility of his three-year-old son admiring him in the French jersey could be a personal motivation, as Thomas has not yet reached 28 international caps. The 2027 World Cup may be his final chance to make a significant mark on the international stage.
