Harold Mayot, a recent Challenger finalist, fell in the first round of ATP Almaty qualifiers. Luka Pavlovic faces Ilia Simakin in the qualifiers, with a past encounter in Shanghai.
Mayot loses in first round of ATP Almaty qualifiers
Harold Mayot, who reached the finals of the Rennes and Saint-Tropez Challenger tournaments in September, was eliminated in the first round of the ATP Almaty qualifiers. Playing on indoor hard courts, Mayot faced Gabriel Diallo and held his ground for much of the first set before losing the tie-break 7-5.
Diallo advances with straight-sets victory
Diallo continued his dominance in the second set, winning it 7-6(5) and securing the match with a 6-2 score in the third set. This result marked a strong performance for Diallo against a higher-ranked opponent.
Pavlovic set to face Simakin in qualifiers
Luka Pavlovic, ranked 207th in the world, is set to face Ilia Simakin, ranked 154th, in the ATP Almaty qualifiers. The two players previously met on October 5 in the Shanghai Masters 1000 qualifying rounds, where Pavlovic won the first set but ultimately lost the match.
Pavlovic's previous tournament experience
Pavlovic had previously advanced through the qualifying rounds of Roland-Garros this year and made his debut in the main draw at the Porte d'Auteuil tournament. This experience may give him an edge as he faces Simakin again in the ATP Almaty qualifiers.
