Lagardère News, a media company linked to Vincent Bolloré, a conservative billionaire with significant influence in French media, has acquired a 25% stake in Frontières, a far-right media outlet. This acquisition was confirmed on Thursday, September 3, by Erik Tegnér, the founder of Frontières, following a report by Le Figaro, a major French newspaper. The move brings Frontières into closer alignment with Lagardère News, which already operates other media outlets in Paris, including CNews and Europe 1. The editorial team of Frontières will now be based in the "Tour Lagardère," a media hub in Paris.
Frontières will also expand its presence on CNews, where its program "100% Frontières" will be broadcast on Fridays in addition to its current schedule from Monday to Thursday. Erik Tegnér described the partnership with Lagardère News as a strategic step toward launching a new media venture, "L'Indiscret," scheduled to debut in late September. This new outlet is described as a blend of investigative journalism, similar to the French publication Le Canard Enchaîné, and the format of confidential information letters, like La Lettre or Politico.
Tegnér emphasized that joining the Bolloré media network would allow Frontières to benefit from a broader media ecosystem, offering complementary services such as in-depth investigations. He also mentioned plans to develop synergies with other media properties within the Lagardère News group. However, Tegnér’s recent legal troubles may cast a shadow over the new venture. In June, he was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended, and fined 10,000 euros for publishing data from immigration lawyers, obtained through a Frontières investigation.
Additionally, in August, an investigation was launched after an altercation involving Tegnér on the island of Groix in the Morbihan department. Tegnér claimed the incident involved individuals he identified as "antifa" activists, a term used to describe groups opposing far-right ideologies. These events highlight the complex and sometimes controversial nature of Tegnér’s media operations and his personal entanglements.
