New cultural venue opens in 2026
A new cultural and urban hub named Large will open in 2026 on Île Seguin in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. The project is developed by Emerige, in partnership with Ardian Real Estate and AOG, with RCR Arquitectes and CALQ as the architects.Site history and significance
The site, known as the Pointe des Arts, has a long industrial history spanning over 100 years. Now, it is being transformed into a cultural destination accessible to the public, symbolizing a shift from industrial to creative use.Name and concept of Large
The name "Large" reflects both the physical layout of the site and its symbolic purpose. It evokes the surrounding Seine River and the open horizon, suggesting a sense of freedom and openness to a wide audience.Architecture and design features
RCR Arquitectes, winners of the 2017 Pritzker Prize, designed the venue in collaboration with CALQ. The architecture emphasizes sensory experiences through contrasts in space and light, including aluminum mashrabiya that filters natural light into the building.Mixed-use development
Large is more than an art center; it includes an 8-screen cinema, a 230-room hotel, 20,000 square meters of office space, and shops and restaurants, making it a multifunctional hub for culture, leisure, and business.
