AirHelp, a company that helps passengers claim compensation for flight disruptions, has added a new feature to its services. This feature allows users to check if they are eligible for compensation through the ChatGPT and Claude chatbots. The tool was developed in partnership with IA Alpic, a cloud technology provider. It works by identifying the affected flight and considering the specific circumstances of the disruption. The system looks at factors such as the length of the delay, the reason for the cancellation, the flight route, and the airline involved to determine if a passenger is entitled to compensation. The service is available in eight languages, including French, and can also explain why compensation might not be applicable.
AirHelp says that about 60 percent of eligible compensation claims are never made. The company believes that integrating this tool into popular AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude is a way to reach more users who are increasingly relying on artificial intelligence for help. According to data from Arcom, a research organization, 33 million French people used AI tools in March 2026, which is about 57.1 percent of the population. Among those aged 15 to 24, the use of these services reached 69.2 percent on average in 2025.
The integration also aims to address a gap in passenger awareness. AirHelp reports that only 28 percent of passengers say they were informed of their rights by their airline during a disruption. This suggests that many travelers may not know they are entitled to compensation, or how to claim it. By making the compensation verification tool accessible through widely used AI assistants, AirHelp hopes to increase the number of people who are aware of and can claim their rights.
The tool is designed to be user-friendly and accessible, allowing passengers to get quick answers without needing to navigate complex websites or contact customer service directly. It operates in multiple languages, which is particularly useful for travelers who may not be fluent in the language of the airline or the country they are traveling to. This integration is part of a broader trend of using AI to simplify everyday tasks and improve access to information.
