The 20th edition of Carrefour du Droit, scheduled for Friday, December 4, 2026, will focus on the growing role of artificial intelligence in the legal field. This annual event brings together lawyers, academics, and legal professionals to discuss emerging trends and challenges. This year’s program includes 12 workshops centered on AI, covering topics such as legal frameworks, work methods, tools, the organization of law firms, and the evolution of economic models. The event will emphasize moving beyond simply understanding AI’s capabilities to using it in a meaningful, secure, and effective way. One of the key topics will be the AI Act, a proposed European regulation aimed at governing the development and use of artificial intelligence. Isabelle Gavanon will discuss the framework and conditions for compliance with the AI Act, as well as its economic implications. Marie Soulez will explore AI from the perspective of intellectual property, focusing on issues such as ownership of AI-generated content, licensing, and risks of counterfeiting. Alexandra Guermonprez will examine the use of AI in human resources, with a particular focus on data protection laws like the GDPR, algorithmic bias, and transparency in decision-making. Other workshops will address a range of AI-related topics, including generative AI contracts, economic sovereignty, cybersecurity, and the creation of an AI charter within organizations. Romain Hazebroucq will introduce the concept of "advanced legal prompting," a technique designed to improve the way legal professionals interact with AI, enhancing the quality of responses and the efficiency of tasks like legal analysis, writing, and auditing. The event will also explore how AI is reshaping legal work practices, with workshops on Legal Practice Management, taxation, Tax Tech, and legal design. A special session will highlight new features of LexisNexis, a legal research platform, to demonstrate how AI is transforming legal solutions and agency AI capabilities. A workshop led by Olivier Chaduteau and Marie Astrid d'Evry, titled "Legal value under pressure: how to remain differentiating when AI accelerates everything?", will examine how legal professionals can maintain their unique value in an increasingly AI-driven world. The program aims to help participants build their own approach to AI, whether they are looking for guidance on compliance, ways to improve their practices, or insights into how AI is affecting their organizations and economic models.
