The President of the Gard Department convened with local officials to discuss key issues affecting ten communes in the region: Aigues-Vives, Aubord, Beauvoisin, Bernis, Codognan, Mus, Uchaud, Vauvert, Vergèze, and Vestric-et-Candiac. Alongside departmental counselors Pascale Fortunat-Deschamps and Bruno Pascal, the President met with the mayors of these communes to foster direct dialogue. The meetings aimed to address each area's unique challenges, share updates on current projects, and align expectations with the Department's goals. Topics included mobility, environmental conservation, travel safety, public infrastructure, community support, and assistance during transitions. Françoise Laurent-Perrigot, a departmental council member, emphasized the council's role as a local partner to the communes, highlighting a commitment to being close to both elected officials and residents. She stressed the importance of understanding local realities to develop effective solutions. The Department has undertaken several major projects since 2021, including the Multimodal Exchange Hub at Vergèze-Codognan Station, which is set to be completed in 2024 with funding of 6.49 million euros, part of which comes from the Department. Another significant investment is the Central Kitchen Intercommunal, planned for 2026, with 8.23 million euros allocated, including 604,225 euros from the Gard. The Sylvéréal Bridge on RD 58 was rehabilitated in 2025 with 2.8 million euros, of which 1.4 million came from the Gard Department. The Gallician Roundabout, scheduled for completion in 2026, is fully funded by the Department with 1.295 million euros. Other initiatives include the construction of a multisport complex in Uchaud, improvements to the potable water network in Vestric-et-Candiac, and safety upgrades in several communes. Several ongoing and planned projects aim to further improve infrastructure and public services. The Vauvert - Vestric-et-Candiac greenway is under development, with works continuing until 2027 and receiving about 570,000 euros from the Department. The rehabilitation of the Vauvert Road Operations Hub is expected to cost approximately 767,000 euros. The reinforcement of the Rhôny levees is an 8.78 million euro project, with the Department contributing 878,470 euros. The removal of the level crossing in Codognan, scheduled for around 2028, will cost about 8.6 million euros. In Aubord, a PFAS treatment station is being built to ensure the safety of drinking water, with 386,784 euros allocated, including 77,860 euros from the Department. These projects reflect the Department's commitment to supporting local communities through infrastructure development, environmental protection, and public service improvements.
