Intersport's flash sale on Nakamura bikes

Intersport is running a flash sale from October 28 to November 22 on a selection of Nakamura bikes, including the Nakamura Crosscity+, with a 500 euro discount applied directly on the product page.

Design and size of the Crosscity+

The Nakamura Crosscity+ is a midtail electric cargo bike, halfway between a city bike and a longtail. It has a frame that extends between the seat tube and the rear wheel to make space for a passenger.

Specifications and features

It features 24-inch wheels, smaller than on a city bike, and measures about 1.81 meters, compared to 2.20 meters for a longtail. It can carry a total of 160 kg, including 60 kg on the rear rack, enough to seat a passenger, and 10 kg in the front basket provided.

Passenger comfort and motor assistance

The passenger has a cushion, footrests, and a handle fixed under the rider's saddle. The assistance comes from a central motor located at the level of the pedals, delivering 70 Nm of torque and offering four levels of assistance, plus a boost mode.

Technical components and battery

It also includes an 8-speed Shimano Altus derailleur, hydraulic disc brakes, a color screen, and Bluetooth. The 504 Wh battery is integrated into the frame and removable, with Intersport announcing 80 km of autonomy and 3 hours and 30 minutes of charging.

Performance in real-world conditions

According to a test by Frandroid, this autonomy can drop to about fifty kilometers with a passenger and in Smart mode. The bike weighs 25 kg, remaining lighter than a classic longtail, but one should remember this before lifting it up a staircase.

Compatibility and size limitations

The rear rack is compatible with the MIK mounting system, allowing the installation of compatible accessories. The Crosscity+ exists only in a single size and may not be suitable for cyclists taller than 1.90 meters.

Value and market comparison

At 2,199.99 euros, the Crosscity+ was already among the cheapest ways to transport children on a new electric cargo bike. With a 500 euro discount, it approaches the prices seen on the second-hand market.

Warranty and seasonal relevance

The bike still offers a lifetime warranty on the frame, fork, handlebar, and stem. Autumn is also the season when trips to school are made in the cold and at dusk.

Safety and practicality for families

The Crosscity+ has a fixed lighting system at the front and rear, with a front light of 40 lux. For a family taking a child to school, the offer is clearly worth it.
