Brittany Ferries is expanding its ferry network between France and Ireland with a new vessel designed to better serve the needs of tourists. The new ferry will be available for booking from the end of October. Currently known as Vizzavona, the ship will be renamed Wexford when it joins the Brittany Ferries fleet. It will fly the French flag and be operated by French crew members.
Starting in March 2027, the Wexford will run three weekly trips between Cherbourg, France, and Rosslare, Ireland, as well as one weekly trip between Cherbourg and Portsmouth, England. It will replace the Norbay, which has been temporarily chartered to maintain service continuity. The Wexford has 146 cabins and can carry around 130 vehicles. It also features 2,500 linear meters of garage space, allowing for the transport of goods alongside passengers.
The Wexford is part of Brittany Ferries' Irish fleet, which now includes five vessels: Santoña, Wexford, Clipper, Armorique, and Pont-Aven. With the addition of the Wexford, the company will be able to offer up to seven weekly crossings between Cherbourg and Rosslare, two between Rosslare and Bilbao, Spain, and two between Roscoff, France, and Cork, Ireland.
This expansion aims to strengthen direct links between Ireland and France, as well as extend services to northern Spain. Brittany Ferries continues to focus on enhancing connectivity and offering more frequent and reliable ferry services across its network.
