Youth orchestra to perform in Paris demonstration

A group of young musicians known as the Orchestre du Nouveau Monde will perform at Place de la République in Paris on Saturday. The orchestra is associated with social and climate justice movements and has been participating in recent protests across France.

Orchestra's role in recent demonstrations

The Orchestre du Nouveau Monde has gained recognition for playing during demonstrations organized by student movements in recent days. It is scheduled to perform again during the Paris demonstration on October 17, continuing its involvement in public activism.

Conductor's background and training

Etienne Jarrier, the conductor of the Orchestre du Nouveau Monde, began learning the clarinet at the conservatory at age 8. He left the conservatory at 17 and has been self-taught in conducting for six years.

Jarrier's conducting approach

Jarrier’s conducting experience includes directing rehearsals for various associative orchestras, such as the Petites Mains Symphoniques. He now leads the Orchestre du Nouveau Monde, which was founded during the pandemic with the involvement of his father.
