At London Fashion Week, British fashion label Chopova Lowena presented its spring/summer 2027 collection in a unique setting: a bowling alley runway. The show, titled X/LUCKY SPIRIT LOST STRIKE/X, featured dogs wearing elaborate, themed outfits designed to highlight pet safety. The collection included items like inflatable coats, parachutes, and protective gear inspired by concerns such as pet theft and accidents. The designers, Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena-Irons, aimed to use fashion as a visual tool to raise awareness about the importance of pet insurance, in collaboration with Lloyds Bank. During the show, the canine models were dressed in bright, eye-catching outfits. One dog wearing a parachute caused a brief delay when the human model had to overtake it on the runway. Another dog was carried in a vibrant green inflatable coat, with its head visible, drawing attention to the unusual pairing of pet and fashion. While the dogs were central to the concept, they did not participate in the final walk. Instead, human models closed the show to the sound of heavy metal music, marking a shift in tone and energy. The collection’s designs were both practical and provocative, blending safety-focused elements with avant-garde fashion. Outfits included neon green airbag-style puffer jackets, anti-theft ensembles with built-in security cameras, and oversized goggles paired with parachutes. These pieces were developed in consultation with veterinarians to ensure the dogs’ comfort and safety. The dogs involved were trained for the event, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to responsible and ethical practices. Stylistically, the collection mixed subcultures, featuring checked skirts, oversized collars, graphic prints, layered jersey, brightly colored tights, and heavy footwear. The color green was a recurring theme, appearing in both the canine and human outfits. The overall look was confrontational, with belts slung low, colorful socks paired with chunky shoes, and a mix of fabrics from different outfits. This approach continued the brand’s tradition of using upcycled textiles and kitschy prints, while pushing the boundaries of what fashion can be.
