Salma Djoubri, a 23-year-old French tennis player currently ranked 1315th in the world, has made an impressive run to the semifinals of the W35 Reims tournament. Despite being significantly lower in the rankings than most of her opponents, Djoubri has defeated two top-seeded players in the competition, including the number 4 and number 5 seeds. The W35 Reims is a professional tennis tournament, part of the ITF Women's World Tennis Tour, which typically features players ranked in the top 300 or so globally. Djoubri's journey began with a three-set victory over her compatriot Kim Chiarello, with a score of 6-3, 4-6, 2-6. She then faced Amandine Monnot, ranked 334th in the world, and won in a tightly contested match with a score of 7-6(5), 7-6(5). Her next challenge was Tessa Johanna Brockmann, a German player ranked 341st and seeded number 5, whom Djoubri defeated with a score of 6-4, 6-3. In the semifinals, Djoubri will face Britt Du Pree, the number 2 seed from the Netherlands, who is currently ranked 321st but reached as high as 302nd in August. Djoubri's best career ranking remains 412th, achieved in 2022. In late 2022, she chose to continue her career in the United States rather than compete on the professional circuit. At Lynn University in Florida, Djoubri played at the highest level for her team this year. In the spring of 2026, she finished the season with a record of 12 wins and one loss as the number 1 player. She was ranked number 2 nationally in Division II and was named the player of the year in the Sunshine State Conference and All-American. This was not her first time achieving such honors, as she had previously held the number 1 national position in Division II for the entire season in 2023-2024, finishing with a record of 18-1 without losing to a Division II opponent. She also won the national ITA title in the fall of 2023. In the quarterfinals, Diana Martynov, seeded number 6, was defeated by Sada Nahimana with a score of 6-4, 6-1. Manon Leonard, seeded number 3, had a strong start against Isis Louise Van den Broek but ultimately lost with a score of 1-6, 6-1, 6-0.
