If you have a Sosh Box, the no-commitment Internet service from the low-cost brand of Orange, you may have received an email from Sosh at the beginning of October. The email outlines a new fee schedule, which will apply to current subscribers starting November 19, 2026. Termination fees increase from 60 to 69 euros (50 to 69 euros on some older contracts), and returning a Livebox late could now cost 300 euros. This email also gives current subscribers the right to terminate their service without paying these fees until early February 2027. New customers already pay these updated fees. Orange and Sosh had raised these fees on August 20, 2026, but the increase only applied to contracts signed after that date. To apply the changes to existing subscribers, Sosh must update their contracts and notify customers at least one month in advance, hence the email. The largest increase affects equipment returned late after a termination. Starting November 19, Sosh will charge 300 euros for the Livebox 6 and newer models, as well as the Flybox (Orange's 4G box) and the TV decoder. Previously, the cost was 200 euros for these devices. For the Livebox up to and including the Livebox 5, the cost increases from 100 euros to 200 euros. Other equipment, such as Wi-Fi repeaters, the Airbox (Orange's mobile router), recorders, and fiber boxes, will now cost 100 euros instead of 49 euros for the Airbox. Competitors are significantly cheaper in this regard. According to a report by Ariase, a non-returned Freebox Pop costs 150 euros, an SFR Box 10+ costs 168 euros, and a Bbox costs 70 euros. With 300 euros for a Livebox 6 or 7, Orange and Sosh charge twice as much as Free and more than four times as much as Bouygues Telecom. Starting November 19, Sosh will also charge 10 euros in shipping fees per Livebox or decoder when requesting to change equipment. These fees do not apply if the exchange is due to a fault. French law offers some protection to consumers in such situations. Article L.224-33 of the Consumer Code allows an operator to modify a contract, but a subscriber who refuses the new conditions can terminate without any fees within four months of receiving the notification. For an email received in early October, this means you have until early February 2027 to cancel without charges. Keep the email well—it will serve as proof. The process to terminate your contract is done online, from your customer space. Open the online termination process, choose the reason "contractual modification," and if that option is not available, select "other legitimate reason" and attach the Sosh email as proof. If you were already considering leaving Sosh, this is the right time to do it, before February. However, return your Livebox and decoder on time: the free termination applies to the 69 euros, and the return penalties are still due if the equipment is not returned. Also note that most Internet service providers cover the termination fees of the previous operator, up to 50, 100, or even 150 euros. People who terminate their plans to switch to the competition often end up paying nothing.
