Air Canada has been named Best Airline in North America at the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2026, for the second consecutive year. This marks the tenth time the Canadian carrier has received this honor since 2010. In the global ranking, Air Canada climbed two places to 17th, becoming the only North American airline in the top 20. This regional distinction places Air Canada ahead of major airlines such as Delta Air Lines, Porter Airlines, and United Airlines. In the Skytrax ranking of the 100 best airlines in the world, Air Canada now occupies the 17th position, up from 19th in 2025. It remains the only North American airline in the top 20. The 2026 ranking is led by Singapore Airlines, followed by Qatar Airways and Cathay Pacific Airways. Air France is placed 7th and obtains the best First Class. Air Canada is ahead of Virgin Atlantic, Swiss International Air Lines, and Thai Airways, but behind Iberia, Saudi Arabian Airlines, and Lufthansa. The Air Canada Signature Suite at Toronto-Pearson Airport received, for the third consecutive year, the award for Best Catering Service in a Business Class Lounge Worldwide. The Toronto Signature Suite is reserved for eligible customers traveling in international business class and offers a la carte dining, with menus that change with the seasons, highlighting Canadian products, as well as a selection of wines and cocktails. Air Canada also operates a Signature Suite in Vancouver. The airline also received awards for Best Business Class Lounge in North America, Best Cabin Crew in Canada, and Best Catering Service in Economy Class in North America. These awards reflect a desire to work on the entire traveler journey: airport reception, premium product, onboard service, and economy class experience. Air Canada links these results to the investments made in recent years in its customer experience. The airline has notably deployed fast free Wi-Fi sponsored by Bell, improved the features of its mobile application, expanded its in-flight entertainment offering, and generalized premium snacks, as well as free wine and beer, on board its flights. It also highlights the development of its loyalty program Aéroplan, the renovation or opening of lounges, and multimodal continuity solutions allowing customers to combine an air journey and a land transfer on a single booking. Airside, Air Canada also highlights the entry into service of the Airbus A321XLR and its new cabin called « Glowing Hearted. » This long-range single-aisle aircraft is expected to provide the carrier with additional flexibility to operate transatlantic or international markets with lower density, where a wide-body aircraft would be less suitable. The new-generation cabin aims to link this network evolution with an upgrade in the passenger experience.
