Mammography available to all

Dr. Sophie Zaimi, known online as thefrenchradiologist, shared a video on Instagram to correct common misunderstandings about mammography. She stressed that the procedure is accessible to everyone, regardless of breast size, and that results should be shared clearly to avoid unnecessary suspense.

Mammography procedure explained

The video explains that mammography uses low-dose X-rays to create images of the breasts. It also includes a brief compression of the breast to improve image quality and reduce radiation exposure.

Mammography for all genders

Zaimi clarified that mammography is not limited to individuals with specific breast shapes or sizes. She noted that it can also be performed on men, whose breasts are typically underdeveloped, to check for any abnormalities.

Practical advice for the appointment

She provided practical tips for the appointment, suggesting that individuals avoid wearing dresses to make the process easier. This advice aims to help patients feel more comfortable and prepared during the examination.
