Elon Musk hints at future Roadster stunts, including flying over the Grand Canyon and breaking speed records.
Elon Musk announces future Roadster feats
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, shared on October 17 that the Roadster has not yet showcased all its unique abilities. He hinted at future demonstrations, including flying over natural landmarks and reaching speeds surpassing half the speed of sound, though no timeline was given for these events.Roadster performs stunts at SpaceX site
On October 15–16, the Roadster performed two stunts at SpaceX’s test site in McGregor, Texas. It climbed a curved ramp, flipped upside down, detached, and landed on its wheels. It then "jumped" over five Tesla vehicles, including a Cybercab and a Semi truck, mid-air.Rocket variant limited to invited users
The Roadster variant equipped with SpaceX-developed cold-gas thrusters will be the only one capable of flight. However, it will not be road-legal and will only be available by invitation.Roadster’s speed potential and records
Mach 1 is about 1,234.8 km/h, so surpassing half that would mean the Roadster could exceed 600 km/h. Currently, Tesla claims the Roadster can reach over 370 km/h. The electric vehicle speed record, set in September 2025, belongs to the BYD Yangwang U9 Xtreme at 496.22 km/h, surpassing the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+.
