Qantas Freight receives first new aircraft

Qantas Freight has received the first of three new Airbus A321P2F aircraft as part of an extended partnership with Australia Post. This marks the beginning of a fleet upgrade aimed at improving parcel delivery services across the country.

New aircraft to boost delivery capacity

The new aircraft are designed to meet growing demand for fast parcel deliveries in Australia, largely driven by the expansion of online shopping. These planes will increase the capacity of Qantas Freight's dedicated fleet by 20 percent.

Older planes being phased out

The new Airbus A321P2F aircraft will replace three BAe 146-300 aircraft that have recently been taken out of service. This upgrade is part of a broader modernization effort to improve efficiency and reliability.

First aircraft to support peak periods

The first of the new aircraft is expected to be used during the Black Friday period, which occurs at the end of November, and the busy Christmas season. This timing ensures that the upgraded fleet can handle increased parcel volumes during these critical times.

Australia Post highlights infrastructure investment

Mark Davies, general manager of long-haul freight fleet and special services at Australia Post, emphasized that the partnership with Qantas involves significant investment in infrastructure to maintain Australia's connectivity and logistics capabilities.

New terminal enhances network resilience

The arrival of the new aircraft, combined with the recent opening of a 24-hour freight terminal at Western Sydney International Airport, is expected to strengthen the resilience and capacity of the overall delivery network for the coming years.
