MSI, a well-known manufacturer of gaming and computing hardware, has confirmed it is preparing to launch a new portable console called the Claw 8 EX AI+. This new model is expected to join the existing lineup, which includes a high-end version with a unique setup featuring an Intel Arc G3 Extreme graphics card, 32 GB of memory, and a 1 TB storage drive. According to reports from VideoCardz, MSI has listed a new model called "CG3M" alongside the "CG3EM" and "CG3EM Launch Pack," suggesting that a new version of the Claw 8 EX AI+ is indeed in development.
The specifications for the new model, however, are somewhat different from what had been anticipated. Instead of using the new entry-level Arc G3 chip from Intel, MSI seems to be using the existing "classic" Arc G3 chip for the initial release. This model would include an Intel Arc G3 "classic" SoC with a graphics unit called Arc B370, which features 10 Xe3 cores. It would also reportedly come with 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory, a 512 GB PCIe Gen 4 SSD, a Full HD+ screen (1920 x 1200 pixels), and a 120 Hz display—similar to the higher-end "CG3EM" model.
So far, MSI has not created an official page for this new console, and the price has not been officially announced. However, initial reports suggest that the "classic" Arc G3 version would cost around $1,499 outside of the Atlantic region.
Intel is reportedly working on a third version of its Arc G3 chip aimed at the entry-level market. This version would be more basic, with an 8-core CPU and a 4-core GPU Xe3 configuration, making it suitable for consoles priced under 1,000 euros or even cheaper models. It remains unclear whether MSI will be among the first manufacturers to use this new chip, especially since its launch is expected soon.
In a separate development, BNP Paribas is offering a student welcome package that includes a Visa card, free international payments, a loan at 0.99%, and up to €175 in benefits. While the new Claw model may be less expensive than the higher-end version, it is not expected to be extremely cheap.
