The first trailer for Éric Judor’s medieval-fantasy comedy Le Roi du Game has been released, offering a glimpse into a quirky tale that blends fantasy with everyday life. The film follows Alexandre, a divorced father who tries to reconnect with his daughter by joining a massive, immersive role-playing game in which she plays a powerful queen of orcs. The story mixes humor with the challenges of family life, set against a fantastical backdrop of elves, orcs, and magic. Scheduled for a theatrical release on October 21, 2026, Le Roi du Game marks Éric Judor’s return to directing after nearly a decade. Judor, known for his sharp wit and physical comedy, will both star in and direct the film. This is his first directorial project since 2017, during which he primarily focused on acting. He has appeared in several French films, including Tout simplement noir and Les K d'Or, where his comedic timing and expressive performances were highlights. The film’s cast includes a mix of familiar faces and rising talents, such as Alexandra Lamy, Maxime Biaggi, Hafid Benamar, Marc Labrèche, and Liona Bordonaro. Judor himself takes on the leading role, dressed in an elf costume complete with a wig and pointed ears, playing an acrobatic thief navigating the world of passionate role-playing game enthusiasts. His character’s antics and interactions with other players are expected to add both humor and heart to the story. Originally titled Le Puy des Oufs, the film is part of Judor’s creative evolution, following his previous work Problemos, which was released nine years ago. With its blend of fantasy and family themes, Le Roi du Game promises to be a lighthearted yet heartfelt exploration of connection, both in the real world and in the imaginative realms of role-playing games.
