Dragon Quest Monsters: Le royaume de Boisflétri, the latest entry in the Dragon Quest spin-off series, has unveiled new gameplay features, story elements, and previously unseen monsters in its fourth series of announcements. The game, developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store, is now available in demo form since December 3, 2026, the date of its official release. One of the new features is Quick Scouting, which allows players to recruit wild monsters without engaging in combat. When a monster is detected, players can throw a piece of meat to attempt to recruit it. The quality of the meat affects the success rate, and some monsters have specific dietary preferences. If successful, the monster joins the main team, reserves, or is sent to a monster depot if there is no space. Later in the story, players can visit Scout Run in the Witherwood paddock, where rare monsters can only be recruited through Quick Scouting. New monsters appear as the story progresses, and each visit to Scout Run provides a limited number of Scouty Snacks for recruitment attempts. Another new gameplay element is Joint Battles, a cooperative combat system where protagonists Bianca and Nera must team up to defeat massive monsters. The two characters share their health and magic points and can switch between controlling the main team and reserves. These monsters have "Pet Hates," specific actions that provoke them and fill their Rage gauge. Once full, the monster unleashes powerful attacks, but after calming down, it becomes vulnerable. Joint Battles can be played in the game’s battle arena or online with up to four friends. Players must win these battles within ten rounds to receive exclusive rewards. These battles are unlocked by progressing through the story and offer unique challenges. The story of Dragon Quest Monsters: Le royaume de Boisflétri takes place in Witherwood, a region once protected by two Archeagles, Michelos and Lucifus, under the care of Almira, a devoted priestess. Almira was beloved for her kindness and devotion to the Archeagles. However, after the fall of the Malevolent Eye of the Sky, both the Archeagles and Almira have disappeared. Her voice is performed by Grace Saif in the English version. Witherwood had long thrived under the Archeagles’ protection until Lucifus, one of them, suddenly attacked the region’s inhabitants, raising questions about what caused the kingdom’s protector to turn against its people. The game introduces three new monsters: the Hammerhood Honcho, a beast family monster with a large mace and twisted bandana; the See Slug, a nature family monster with a single glowing golden eye and the ability to learn water-based spells; and the Panda Pilgrim, a beast family monster dressed in traditional clothing and wielding a walking stick. A demo of the game has been available since the last Nintendo Direct on all platforms, including narrative content covering the protagonists’ arrival in Witherwood and the initial events. Dragon Quest Monsters: Le royaume de Boisflétri will officially release on December 3, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store.
