Deezer introduces a tool to block AI-generated music, responding to user demand and growing prevalence of such tracks.
Deezer introduces AI song filter
Deezer, a music streaming service based in France, is launching a new feature that lets users block all songs created by artificial intelligence. The feature is a simple on/off button that users can control whenever they want.User demand for AI filtering
A survey conducted with Ipsos at the end of 2025 found that nearly half of music streaming users would like the ability to exclude AI-generated songs from their listening experience. This highlights a growing concern among listeners about the role of artificial intelligence in music creation.Deezer’s AI detection system
To offer this feature, Deezer has developed a detection tool that identifies AI-generated music with 99.8% accuracy. The platform previously had only 10% of its uploaded music in this category, but now more than half of the 180,000 tracks received daily are AI-generated.AI-generated music is excluded from playlists
Once identified, AI-generated songs are excluded from Deezer’s curated playlists. This means that while users can still access these tracks individually, they won’t appear in recommendations or editorially selected playlists.Other platforms take different approaches
Other music streaming services have handled AI-generated content in various ways. Bandcamp has banned such tracks entirely, Tidal has removed their ability to generate revenue, and Spotify has labeled AI-created content with a special tag to inform listeners.
