Restaurant inspection uncovers illicit items

An inspection on Thursday, October 15, at a restaurant in Vaulx-en-Velin uncovered cocaine, weapons, and a significant amount of cash. The operation was carried out by Customs and Urssaf agents, who suspected the establishment of involvement in fraud and money laundering.

Illicit items found in basement

During the inspection, agents discovered hand guns in the basement and alerted the police. The presence of firearms prompted a more thorough search of the premises.

Search yields large quantities of drugs and cash

The investigators then searched the entire restaurant, seizing three kilograms of cocaine, four hand guns, about a hundred cartridges, and approximately 70,000 euros in cash. These items were found during a comprehensive search of the facility.

Employee detained during the operation

They also detained an employee, who was the only person present at the time of the inspection. The employee was taken into custody while authorities continued their investigation into the restaurant’s activities.

Restaurant linked to known criminal family

According to Le Progrès, the establishment belongs to a family with several members already known to the police. This connection suggests a possible ongoing involvement in criminal activities.
