French duo in contention

Théo Arribagé and Albano Olivetti, two French tennis players, are still in the running to reach the eighth position in the ATP Shanghai tournament. They previously finished as runners-up at the ATP 500 event in Tokyo last Tuesday and are currently ranked ninth in the Race, just one spot behind Manuel Guinard, who is playing with Argentine Guido Andreozzi.

Breton’s early exit

The Breton, referring to the French tennis player Fabien Reboul, suffered a serious injury and had surgery on his left knee in Paris by Dr. Antoine Gerometta. This forced a last-minute change in the doubles lineup for Sadio Doumbia, who found a new partner in the Portuguese Nuno Borges.

French victory in first round

Théo Arribagé and Albano Olivetti defeated the improvised pair of Sadio Doumbia and Nuno Borges in three sets (6-1, 4-6, 10-7) during the first round of the Shanghai tournament. Their next challenge will be facing the Russian duo of Ivan Liutarevich and Daniil Medvedev, who previously beat the pair of Bublik and Shelton.

Other French hopes

Hugo Nys and Edouard Roger-Vasselin, currently ranked thirteenth in the Race, are also hoping to qualify for the upcoming event in Turin. They will begin their campaign against the pair of Petr Nouza and Michael Venus. Meanwhile, the top-ranked team in the Race, Hari Heliovarri and Henry Patten, have chosen not to participate in Shanghai.
