Rouen player suffers sudden health issue

Vincent Vent, a player for Rouen Métropole Basket, experienced a sudden health issue before training on Monday, October 12, which led to a diagnosis of a stroke with a blood clot in the brain.

Quick response saves the player's life

Hugo Marie, the team's physiotherapist, recognized the symptoms of a stroke and immediately advised that Vincent be taken to the emergency room. Doctors performed thrombolysis, a treatment that dissolves blood clots, within less than an hour of the first symptoms.

Vincent makes a full recovery

Vincent Vent regained the ability to speak within hours of the incident and was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday morning. He is doing well and has no lasting effects from the stroke.

Player's season is affected

Although Vincent is expected to recover fully, his basketball season is now compromised. He has signed a work stoppage for a month and will need ongoing treatment until the beginning of 2027.

Team expresses relief and admiration

Jean-Denys Choulet, the team’s coach, expressed relief that Vincent’s condition ended well and praised his human qualities. The team hopes to see him return to play soon.
