French Paralympic cyclist Thomas Peyroton-Dartet faces provisional suspension after an abnormal EPO test result at the Road Para-Cycling World Championships.
French Paralympian provisionally suspended
A French Paralympic champion, Thomas Peyroton-Dartet, has been provisionally suspended by the International Testing Agency (ITA) after an abnormal test result for erythropoietin (EPO), a substance banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency. The test took place on September 5 during the Road Para-Cycling World Championships in Huntsville, United States, where he won a gold medal in his category.Suspension process explained
Peyroton-Dartet, 41, has been informed of the suspension and can now request the analysis of his B sample, which is a second blood or urine sample taken during the same test. If the second sample confirms the initial result, or if he does not request the analysis, the case will be considered a confirmed violation of anti-doping rules.Recent history with doping tests
This announcement comes at a sensitive time for Peyroton-Dartet, who recently won two medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. He earned a gold in the time trial C3 and a silver in the C1-3 road race. Earlier this year, he had tested positive for trimetazidine, a medication used to treat angina, but he was able to prove that the substance came from a common medication, Daflon, which was later removed from the market.Athlete’s broader sporting achievements
Peyroton-Dartet is also a world champion in the road race for the C3 category in 2026. He has also competed alongside able-bodied cyclists, such as during the Tour of Asturias in April of last year, where he participated with the continental team, EuroCyclingTrips - CCN.
