Many gamers are aware that the standard Sony PlayStation 5 comes with only 667 gigabytes of internal storage. Given that many popular AAA games now require over 100 gigabytes each, this limited space can fill up quickly. To address this, many players opt to upgrade their storage by installing an internal NVMe SSD, a type of high-speed storage device. One such option is the Lexar EQ790, which is particularly well-suited for the PS5 due to its built-in heat sink, which helps manage heat and maintain performance during long gaming sessions. The Lexar EQ790 offers 1 terabyte of storage, which is roughly 1,000 gigabytes—enough space for several large games, including the upcoming GTA VI. During the French Days sale, this SSD is available for less than 170 euros, a significant discount from its original price of 179.99 euros. It features high read speeds of up to 7,000 megabytes per second and write speeds of up to 5,000 megabytes per second, meeting the performance requirements set by Sony for optimal PS5 compatibility. The SSD uses an M.2 2280 format and a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface, ensuring it works seamlessly with the console. Beyond the PS5, the Lexar EQ790 can also be used in desktop PCs or laptops with an M.2 NVMe slot. It enhances system performance by reducing loading times and improving the speed of launching applications and games. The SSD can be managed through Lexar DiskMaster software, which allows users to monitor its health, optimize performance, and update its firmware as needed. This makes it a versatile upgrade for both console and PC gamers. The French Days, a popular shopping event in France, will return in 2026 for a second special edition, running until September 14th. This event often features discounts on a wide range of products, including electronics and gaming accessories.
