Players from Everton wore black armbands during their home match against Ipswich Town on Saturday as a tribute to three-year-old Noah Woods, who was found after going missing in Suffolk earlier in the week. Before the Premier League game in Liverpool, a photograph of Noah was shown on the big screen, and both sets of fans stood in applause for three minutes after the match began. The tribute aimed to honor Noah’s memory and bring attention to his tragic disappearance. Noah, who was non-verbal, partially deaf, and had been undergoing an assessment for autism, became separated from a relative after visiting a playground in Brantham on Tuesday afternoon, according to Suffolk police. Over 1,300 members of the public joined search efforts that concluded on Wednesday when police divers recovered a body from a nearby lake. The child’s death is not currently being treated as suspicious, though police have ongoing inquiries to complete before submitting a report to the coroner. Noah’s father, Rhys Woods, shared a heartfelt message on a community Facebook group, expressing the deep sorrow of losing his son. “There are no words to describe the pain of this loss,” he wrote. “We are all absolutely heartbroken. Noah was the sweetest and most innocent little boy, with nothing but love to give, and we are going to miss him so very much.” Ipswich Town’s captain, Dara O’Shea, and goalkeeper Christian Walton were among those from the Suffolk club who laid flowers at the playground where Noah went missing. Town defender Leif Davis also contributed £2,000 to a fundraising appeal organized by Good Dads Club, a group of fathers in Colchester, Essex, to support Noah’s family. By Saturday evening, the appeal had already received over £100,000 in donations from more than 6,000 supporters.
