Comedian Scott Thompson, best known for his stand-up performances and his time at the Luxor in Las Vegas, has been hospitalized following a reported suicide attempt. The 61-year-old comedian was scheduled to perform at the Luxor on Friday night, but the event was canceled as a result. Thompson’s representative, Jami Schlicher, confirmed that he is receiving medical care and support in the hospital. In a statement sent to TMZ, Schlicher expressed gratitude for the public’s concern and prayers, while also requesting privacy for the comedian and his family during this difficult time. According to TMZ, sources close to Thompson indicated that he was hospitalized after attempting to take his own life. This news has raised concerns among fans and colleagues alike, especially given his long-standing connection with the Luxor. Thompson has been a regular performer at the venue since 2005, making him one of the longest-tenured comedians in the resort’s history. MGM Resorts International, which owns the Luxor, released a statement expressing relief that Thompson is recovering and emphasizing his importance to the company. "Scott is a beloved member of the Luxor and MGM Resorts family," the statement said. The company also wished him strength and support as he continues his recovery. However, a spokesperson for the company told 8 News that no further details about his condition or future plans could be shared at this time. Despite the recent cancellation of Friday and Saturday night shows, Thompson’s performance schedule at the Luxor remains active, with dates listed through next year. Fans have been leaving messages of support on his Instagram page, where he is known for his humor and his stage name, which comes from a nickname given to him by a swimming coach. Metro has reached out to Thompson’s representatives for additional comment, but no further updates have been provided.
