From 20 to 22 October 2026, LUDOVIA#BE will return to Spa, Belgium, with a new identity and expanded ambitions. For its 7th edition, the event will be known as the Festival des compétences numériques (Digital Skills Festival). Ludomag, a digital education-focused publication, will be on site to cover the event and will conduct several live interviews with participants, which will be broadcast on its YouTube channel.
Since its launch in 2019, LUDOVIA#BE has become a key event in the Francophone region, focusing on the use and practice of digital tools in education. In 2026, it will expand its scope and rebrand as the Festival des compétences numériques, reflecting a broader focus on digital skills. The change highlights a shift from merely discussing tools and their integration into education to exploring the skills needed to navigate a digital society—skills that help people learn, work, stay informed, communicate, and participate as citizens.
This new direction aligns with the Digital Wallonia 2025-2029 strategy, a plan adopted by the Walloon Government in October 2025. One of the strategy's six main goals is to ensure that at least 80% of adults in Wallonia have basic digital skills by 2030, in line with European objectives. This goal goes beyond simply owning technology or mastering its use; it emphasizes building a digital culture that includes critical thinking, information evaluation, understanding digital environments, and using artificial intelligence responsibly.
LUDOVIA#BE will now focus on expanding its reach by welcoming participants from a wider range of fields, including training, continuing education, digital inclusion, and media education. Educators, researchers, trainers, mediators, experts, and companies will have the opportunity to share experiences and approaches over three days. The festival will maintain its core values of experimentation, exchange, and peer learning, with formats such as ExplorCamps, Learning Rooms, and collective intelligence sessions. These formats aim to explore digital transformations through practical experiences and real-world challenges.
