Immersion is a key factor in gaming, where the visual experience plays a major role in making players feel fully engaged. High image quality can significantly enhance this experience. While 4K QD-OLED monitors have been available for some time, gamers who prefer ultrawide screens—those with a 21:9 aspect ratio—have struggled to find options that match the same level of visual quality. Now, LG has introduced 5K2K QD-OLED monitors in 45-inch and 39-inch sizes, offering an impressive display resolution of 5120x2160, ideal for PC gaming. These new monitors use tandem OLED technology, which improves brightness, deepens black levels for better contrast, and enhances efficiency. This technology relies on multiple OLED layers, helping to reduce issues like brightness dimming and allowing HDR content to shine more vividly. The LG UltraGear 45GX950A-B QD-OLED model, for example, is currently available on Amazon for $1,359—down from $1,999.99—offering a 32% discount for Labor Day shoppers. The 800R curved design adds to the immersive experience, allowing gamers to enjoy more of the game world in a single view. However, these monitors require a high-performance graphics card to handle the 5120x2160 resolution, which has 33% more pixels than standard 4K. Gamers would need something like an RTX 4080 Super or RTX 5080 to fully utilize the display's capabilities. The LG UltraGear 45GX950A-B stands out as one of the best OLED gaming monitors on the market, offering a 5K2K resolution, dual-mode support for competitive 1080p gaming at 330Hz, and the curved design that enhances immersion. Alienware has introduced a competitive option with its 5K2K AW3926QW monitor, priced at $1,099—significantly lower than LG’s model. However, it is not available in all regions yet and lacks the 45-inch size and 800R curvature of LG’s offering. For those with the desk space and looking for the ultimate immersive experience, the LG UltraGear 45GX950A-B remains a top choice, especially with its current discounted price.
