LG has been offering a 45-inch 21:9 OLED monitor, the UltraGear 45GR95QE, since 2023. Now, the company is introducing a new model, the UltraGear 39GS95QE, which sits between its 34-inch and 45-inch models in size. This new monitor uses the same high-performance OLED panel, featuring a 240 Hz refresh rate. The 39-inch model has a resolution of 3,440 x 1,440 pixels, known as Ultra-WQHD, and is designed in a 21:9 aspect ratio, which is wider than standard 16:9 screens. Its 800R curvature, meaning the screen curves with a radius of 800 mm, creates a more immersive visual experience by wrapping around the viewer's field of vision. OLED technology allows each pixel on the screen to produce its own light, which means it can turn off completely to display true black. LG claims a contrast ratio of 1,500,000:1 and a color coverage of 98.5% of the DCI-P3 color space, a standard used in digital cinema. For gaming, the monitor can refresh up to 240 times per second, with a response time of 0.03 ms, making it suitable for fast-paced action. It supports Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, which help reduce screen tearing by synchronizing the display with the graphics card. The monitor includes two HDMI 2.1 ports and a DisplayPort 1.4, enabling it to reach the full 240 Hz refresh rate. However, when used with a console, the display is limited to 120 Hz and the 16:9 format, with black bars on the sides. The typical brightness of 275 cd/m² may not be sufficient in very bright environments. With a 39-inch screen, the resolution provides around 96 pixels per inch, which is less sharp than a 4K screen. This could affect readability if the monitor is used extensively for tasks like spreadsheet work. The UltraGear 39GS95QE was originally priced at 1,499 euros, but it is currently available for 699.99 euros on Amazon, a discount of 799.01 euros. Amazon Prime members can save an additional 15 euros using the code FRPRIME15, and the offer is valid until September 27, 2026. To fully utilize the 240 Hz refresh rate at the 3,440 x 1,440 resolution in modern games, a high-end graphics card is required. If your PC is capable of handling such performance and you are looking for a monitor primarily for gaming and movie watching, this offer is a strong value. However, for mainly office use, a smaller screen with a higher pixel density might be a more practical choice.
