The Futuroscope opened in 1982 and has since become a major attraction in central France, known for its futuristic architecture and interactive exhibits. The first televised Miss France election occurred in 1987, during which Nathalie Marquay was crowned the first Miss France in a live broadcast. The event was aired on FR3, the predecessor of the current France 3 television channel. The ceremony was hosted by Geneviève de Fontenay and Guy Lux, two well-known figures in French entertainment. The jury at the time was nearly all-male, with notable participants including Léon Zitrone, Jean Lefebvre, Bernard Menez, and Francis Perrin. Frédéric Gilbert, President of the Miss France organization and producer of the pageant, emphasized the significance of returning to the Arena Futuroscope this year. In a press release, he noted that the event is a celebration of both the 40th anniversary of the Miss France competition on television and the 40th anniversary of the Futuroscope.
