German audio manufacturer Teufel has introduced its most ambitious product to date, the Ikonio, a high-performance connected speaker that is powered through a standard electrical outlet rather than batteries. Designed for audiophiles and home theater enthusiasts, the Ikonio stands out with its unique look and impressive sound capabilities. It measures 30 x 30 x 38 cm and weighs 17.4 kg, making it a substantial addition to any room. The speaker offers wired connectivity through options like RCA, optical, auxiliary, and RJ45 ports, but it does not include an HDMI eARC port, which is commonly used for high-quality audio transmission from TVs. Wirelessly, the Ikonio supports popular platforms such as AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, TuneIn, and Bluetooth 5.1. However, it does not support LE Audio, a newer, more efficient wireless audio standard. The speaker can be paired with a second unit for stereo sound and can be controlled using either a smartphone app or a touch panel located on its top surface. The Ikonio's sound system is highly advanced, featuring three of its four panels equipped with a 25 mm dome tweeter and a 90 mm bass/mid speaker with a polypropylene cone. The bass is produced by a two-way woofer setup with a 200 mm aluminum cone arranged vertically in opposition. This configuration creates a 3-way sound topology with eight individual speakers. Each speaker is powered by a class D amplifier, delivering a total of 650 W RMS or 2500 W peak power, making it capable of producing rich, dynamic sound. To enhance the listening experience, the Ikonio uses Teufel’s proprietary Dynamore Ultra technology, which allows users to control the direction of the sound through three modes: Immersive, which focuses sound towards the listener; Omnidirectional, which spreads sound evenly in all directions; and Mono, which creates a more centralized audio experience. The Teufel Ikonio is now available for purchase at a price of 1200 euros, targeting consumers looking for a high-end audio solution.
