Emma Willis, 50, is preparing to step into the spotlight as the new co-host of Strictly Come Dancing, a popular BBC dance competition. She will join Johannes Radebe, 39, a former professional dancer, and comedian Josh Widdicombe, 43, in a new presenting trio. Willis, who has previously hosted shows like Big Brother and The Voice, is set to take over from Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, who left the show last year. The new team will begin their tenure later this month, bringing fresh energy to the long-running series. Willis has openly acknowledged that she is ready for the comparisons and scrutiny that come with the role. She emphasized that the team is not trying to change the show but wants to ensure it continues to bring joy to viewers. She also admitted to feeling the pressure of the role, saying she is aware of the challenge and the responsibility that comes with it. Josh Widdicombe, who was selected as a co-host after appearing in the 2024 Christmas special, joked that he might not have made it far in a full series of Strictly if he had competed. He referenced other comedians who have won the competition, like Chris McCausland and Bill Bailey, and admitted he would have loved the chance to try his hand at the dance floor. Radebe shared that Daly and Winkleman had offered their support and wished them well, comparing the transition to getting advice from "older sisters." Widdicombe described the experience of taking over as "surreal" but said the pressure was "exciting," adding that the opportunity reflected the team's deep commitment to the show. This season’s lineup features a mix of celebrities and professional dancers. Contestants include former Love Island winner Dani Dyer-Bowen, actress Melanie Walters, former England footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips, and Australian singer Delta Goodrem, among others. Five new professional dancers are also joining the show: Aleksandra Isaeva, Cristian Priori, Lethabo Monametsi, Maddie Ingoldsby, and Mark Karmalita. Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One and the iPlayer on Sunday, September 19, marking the start of a new era for the beloved show.
